Your iTunes podcast links are driving Android users away.

Here’s an alternative that works for everyone.

You’re linking to a podcast, and you want to be as helpful as possible. So because you’re an iOS user yourself, you think, “I’ll link directly to iTunes!” Makes sense — until you learn that more than 1.4 billion people use Android, and can’t do a thing with an iTunes link. (P.S. That number is on the rise.)

Here’s what happens for Android users when they try to follow an iTunes link for a podcast. (Hint: it’s insanely frustrating.)

What about Google Play?

“But wait!” I hear you saying. “I care about Android users. Look, I included a link to Google Play!”

That’s definitely a step in the right direction… except that podcasts only work on Google Play if you’re in the US or Canada.

So again: you’re leaving a whole bunch of potential listeners out in the cold.

An alternative that works for everybody

Instead of forcing users down separate paths based on the kind of device they’re using, why not use a universal link that works for everyone?

RadioPublic’s universal links let you share a single link for a show that can be accessed on any mobile device — and on desktop, too.

That’s right: one link that works on every platform. So you can share a single link with anyone, that lets them listen to (or follow) the show right away.

3 simple steps to get a universal podcast link:

  1. Find your show in the RadioPublic search catalog or add your podcast if it isn’t there yet.
  2. Copy the radiopublic.com link. This is the universal link which works for iOS, Android and the web.
  3. Share it anywhere you like: in a text message, on social media, or on the web.

That’s it! Now you have a link that works for everyone — including 1.4 billion prospective new listeners.
