To be human

Stories about humans — how we think, act, do, create, and exist — are all over the podcast landscape. When a request for human interest podcasts passed through the reference desk this week, I turned to some long-time trusted shows that are excellent for both new and veteran podcast listeners.

On Being with Krista Tippett — big questions about the immensity of our lives.

Fugitive Waves — In particular, their Hidden Kitchen series of the past few months has been incredibly compelling to me. Try the episodes about George Foreman grills or wild rice harvests.

Strangers — true stories about the people we meet and the connections we make. (Of the shows I recommended here, these are probably the heaviest and most intensely emotional.)
